Studying For Exams...

Hello world. I know it's been a reeeally long time since I've written something... sorry!! >__<
I actually have no real reason why I haven't been writing on here.. pure laziness I guess?
And I know I haven't finished my Christmas Holiday story thing either. I guess I'll just give it up for now since I don't remember the details and it's what, May now..
Well I realise now that this blog is for myself (and anyone who reads it lol), it's just a way for me to get things off my mind I suppose.

SO! Exams.
The number one enemy to all people. We just hate exams. Why must we be tested on everything?! =_= Hmph.
I know that they play an extremely important role in our lives in order to progress but why must we endure it for our whole lives?
Sigh, well there's nothing that we can do about it. This world is corrupt in many ways. One being the fact that we are trying to categorise ourselves and pick out those who are "better" than others. Anyway, this is just my opinion.

Studying, as we all know, is ridiculousy frustrating. But, we must do it to get ourselves into a comfortable enough place. The problem is that dreams and hopes are closely linked. If we do not achieve good grades, it is likely that obtaining our dreams will become more difficult. However, it is not just those who are not good at taking tests, or those who are less academic, it is also those who are scared (whether they realise it or not). That is the case for me. Of course I have aspirations and dreams but I've realised only today that I am afraid of falling down whilst trying to reach out for it. I'm scared that I won't have the confidence to stand back up. I'm stupid for thinking this. I am in control of who I am. I have so many capabilities that I don't even know. Everyone else is the same. They just don't know how to bring these out and are unaware of what they can do. I will stand up proud and chase after mine. This is my life. I will not live it with regret. I want to be able to say I tried my absolute best whether I get to where I want to be or not. :)

One person in particular who always gives me inspiration is Bubzbeauty. Even though I do not know her and she does not know me, I feel as though her words are true and they touch my heart. Little by little I am realising life, on my own and with her help.

I watched this video today.

This is my realisation.

I'm just ranting on here. I wonder if anyone will actually read this. Oh well. It's just my thoughts out open for the world to read. It doesn't bother me if people read it or not ^^

Well I guess this wasn't so much about studying for exams..
But I'll just enclose just 10 tips (I don't know if they'll work or not but this is just what I do).

1) Be in a comfortable and pleasant environment. For me it's my room, but it has to be tidy otherwise I can't concentrate properly. Don't know why '___'. I tend to light a candle with a soft and subtle scent to set a nice atmosphere. Turn on a little background music, nothing with singing in it though. Either classical, instrumentals or just piano pieces. Recently, I love this (MBLAQ - Sad Memorise) but I usually stick to soft tunes. Must be warm and complete silence other than my music. It's also good to change your environment every so often. I sometimes go to the study area in my library, where I see someone else working or reading. It motivates me and I think to myself "yeah! I'll show this person that I can do the same if not more! wahahahaha! >:D" ...yes it's very foolish of me but meh, it works haha.

2) Make sure you have plenty of rest in order to have an absorbing brain. If you're dead from staying up too late you won't be in the mood to work. Don't stay up late. Sleep early and don't tire yourself out too much.

3) Always have something to drink. I usually have green tea or water. Believe it or not, studying makes one thirsty. You can have anything but don't over do it i.e. 10 mugs of coffee =_=.

4) Have a good chair and plenty of room to lay out all of your things which are necessary. If you have a hard chair and start having pains in your back while studying then it will be unpleasant. Space is important so that you are free to move around and find things that you may want or need to use. DO NOT study on your bed. I guarantee that you will fall asleep or start feeling uncomfortable. I know from personal experience..

5) Have breaks inbetween studying. For example a 10 minute break between 40 minutes of studying. Studying for 10 hours straight is not going to help you, you'll feel weary and might possibly not remember things. Do not distract yourself too much during your break as it will be harder to get back to studying. Try to avoid using the computer or watching the tv. Listening to a bit of music is fine, reading a little, playing an instrument, playing with cards, painting your nails, daydreaming, etc. are all ok.

6) Try talking aloud and going over things, putting things into your own words. It's easier for you to understand what you are trying to learn when you do this.

7) Having a study plan or timetable is great. You can equally share out your time for your different subjects/topics and it can allow you to create more time to study for subjects which you feel you are weaker in.

8) Find other ways to study, not just by reading. Writing out notes in your own context is a good way to start. If you are trying to memorise equations, phrases or important details, you can simply record your voice on your phone or computer (transfer onto phone or mp3) and listen to yourself whilst you're going somewhere or before you sleep. Finding cartoon versions of stories can be a good way to remembering plots, e.g. The Odyssey has a few youtube videos in animation.

9) Whilst doing other things on your own think about your subject/topic and go over what you know. For example, if you're swimming on your own you can do this.

10) Enjoy yourself. Put yourself in a good mood. Find your motivation. Inspire yourself to do well. Try to make it fun for yourself. It doesn't have to be a chore if you don't want it to be. (I have a piece of cloth where I have written encouragement phrases on. I either tie it around my wrist or around my head while I study. With this I am aware that I can study well.) Also, write down your goals that YOU want to do in YOUR life. Whether it be to become a doctor, visit a country or simply eat something. If studying will help you get there, then write it. If you're thinking how is wanting to eat something linked with studying.. well, if you study, you'll get a job (hopefully) and you'll earn money, then you can buy that food yourself! Aha! You see! XD hahaha

Anyway, I think that's it for today. I wish the best of luck to everyone who has exams coming up. Maybe this post will be of some use to someone.
That's enough of my rant! Goodnight~ ^o^
